Alien Research is the first missions the Aliens will conduct at the start of the war. Alien Research is a relatively minor threat to both the Xenonauts and the governments of the world. Alien Research missions are always unescorted and occasionally decide to land although that isn't necessary.
For every hour they are active, there is a 20% chance of them generating an abduction event such as unexplained forest fires, electrical disruption, strange lights, large patches of ocean with dead marine life, crop circles and missing boat crews.
These events alert both Xenonauts and local government to their presence and negatively impact ratings for the affected region (or nearest region if at sea), they also cause some minor causalities. Despite this Alien Research does not affect the ticker in any way. Abduction Relations penalty: -12 for both land and sea.
